Western
Hotel

. The
lot
intimates
the
early
stages
of the
redevelopment
of
Sacramento’s
urban
west
side
.
Notice
the
superstructure
of
some
of the
city’s
original
buildings
. In an
effort
to
defeat
endemic
flooding
, the
city’s
central
business
district
was
raised
by
18
feet
in
1863
.
